Heres a template you can use if you are on Job Seekers Allowance and you get bank charges applied to your account.

According to the Social Security Administration Act 1992

Miscellaneous Section 187 - (1) States that banks cannot take charges from benefits a person needs to live on. ' Subject to the provision of this Act, every assignment of or charge on- (aa) A jobseekers allowance; And every agreement to assign or charge such benefit shall be void;and on the bankruptcy of a beneficiary, such benefit shall not pass to any trustee or any other person acting on behalf of his creditors'.

I have been on benefits since the .......... therefore I am looking for all unlawful charges to be returned to my account within the next seven days, plus the £10 that I was charged to get a copy of all the bank charges that were unfairly taken out of my account. I reserve the right to commence further my grievance on to the financial ombudsman without any further notice, and to seek an additional award for distress and inconvenience, together with legal expenses.
